A BOLD WARD 3

I'm Running for DC Council - Here's Why

I’m excited to officially announce that I’m running for DC Council in Ward 3.

I’m running because I believe Ward 3 deserves bold leadership and strong results, and because too many neighbors are frustrated by a city government that too often feels slow, confusing, and disconnected from the people it serves.

As an ANC Commissioner, I’ve worked every day to deliver real, practical results for our community, from advancing major housing projects, to helping bring a grocery store to Woodley Park, to pushing for stronger public safety strategies and better oversight of city agencies. That experience has shown me what’s possible when we focus on solutions, not slogans.

My campaign is built around five clear priorities:

Housing
We
Can
Afford

Ward 3 should be a place where you can raise a family and age in place. As an ANC Commissioner, I’ve worked on the Wardman Park redevelopment, Ward 3’s second-largest residential development project, and advocating to up-zone Connecticut Avenue. I’ve seen how thoughtful debate creates opportunity, and I’ve seen how delays kill it.

When it comes to new homes, I will speak up. Our current Councilmember stayed silent during the two largest up-zoning cases in Ward 3 history. That is unacceptable. Whether or not you agree with me, you will never have to guess where I stand.

We need to stop talking about housing and start building it where it makes sense. Take Chevy Chase Commons: it’s a once-in-a-lifetime chance for working-class housing, yet the city watered the plan down instead of maximizing its potential. As your Councilmember, I’ll fight to reverse that trend and work to expand options near Metro stations and along our main corridors. I will modernize the approval process and protect renters to ensure affordable, transit-connected housing actually gets built—not just talked about.

A
Thriving
Local Economy

Small businesses are the backbone of our neighborhoods and right now, they’re in crisis. Across Ward 3, too many commercial corridors are struggling, storefronts are sitting vacant, and longtime local businesses are being pushed out. I’ve seen this firsthand, this past spring, the Woodley Park Main Streets program collapsed, I worked directly with business owners to help in any way I could to keep them connected to the city services they actually needed.

DC shouldn't be your biggest competitor. Right now, it’s too hard to open and too expensive to stay open. As your Councilmember, I’ll cut red tape, streamline permitting, and be a strong partner to Main Streets and BID programs so local businesses can open faster, stay open longer, and grow so our corridors come back to life, not fade away.

Safe,
Clean Neighborhoods

Residents deserve neighborhoods that are safe, clean, and welcoming. I will back proven public safety strategies, expand behavioral health response teams, and crack down on everyday quality-of-life issues like trash, rodents, and neglected public spaces. And I’ll provide tough, independent oversight so taxpayer dollars go to what actually works.

When it comes to safe streets, we’ve spent enough time "talking" about them to pave them twice over. DDOT has consistently failed Ward 3 and even further they've failed the whole city, leaving everyone from pedestrians to cyclists, and yes even drivers at risk. From Reno Road to Connecticut Avenue, residents keep getting the run around instead of results.

As your Councilmember, I will use the full power of the office to force change, if that means refusing to vote to confirm a DDOT Director who will not commit to a real, enforceable plan to make Ward 3’s streets safe for everyone, then that is what I will do.

A Government That

Works

for

Us

For too long, residents have been told to accept a government that is slow, confusing, and unresponsive. I refuse to accept that. As an ANC Commissioner, I haven’t just watched the system fail; I’ve worked alongside my colleagues to sound the alarm on our broken 911 and 311 systems. I’ve sat in the oversight hearings and outlined exactly what is working and what is not.

As your Councilmember, I will use every oversight tool at my disposal to hold agencies accountable and demand transparency. I will fight to modernize city services so that requests don’t disappear into a bureaucratic black hole. Government should work for you, not the other way around. Ward 3 deserves leadership that calls out inefficiency, enforces accountability, and delivers real results and I will fight every day to make that happen.

Defending
DC Home
Rule and Statehood

Our Home. Our Rules. Local decisions should be made by the people who live here — not by politicians in Congress who don’t know our neighborhoods. I’ll defend Home Rule, push back against congressional interference, and keep fighting for full self-determination and statehood.

This campaign is about delivering for Ward 3: affordable housing, a thriving local economy, safe and clean neighborhoods, good government, and a DC that controls its own future.

If you believe in this vision, I hope you’ll join me. You can sign up to volunteer, chip in if you’re able, and follow along as we build a campaign focused on results.

Together, we can deliver a Bold Ward 3.

BOLD LEADERSHIP. STRONG RESULTS.
